Luke 9:18-27

Jesus asked his twelve disciples, who do men say that I am?
John the Baptist, Elijah or Jeremiah was the answer that came from them.

So that's what people have wondered, but my disciples what do you say?
Then Simon spoke up, you're the Christ, God's son. His answer was plain as day.

Bless you said Jesus. God showed this to you. Now Peter shall be your name.
Upon this rock I will build my church, but understand why I came.

The church wIll withstand the gates of hell, but first I must suffer and die.
I will rise the third day. But Peter cried, no! Would he stop his Lord? He would try.

Jesus said Satan you get behind me. Your thoughts are just on this earth.
You must take up your cross. If you gain this world and lose your soul, what's it worth?

If you lose your life for my names sake you will gain in eternity.
Deny yourself. I said take up your cross, and come and follow me.

Then Jesus said something that gives us a clue about what He wants us to do.
He said if you are ashamed of Him, then He'll be ashamed of you.
