Luke 3:1-38, John 1:1-34

In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God.
He made all things that are. Then with us He trod.

He is the life and light. God sent a man named John,
to bear witness of that light, that we may believe upon.

He wore leather and sandals. Ate locust and honey.
Repent of your sins my friends, and don't lust after money.

Don't just say you repent, but act like you do too.
Bring forth fruit that is good to prove you are true.

I'm preparing his path. No the Christ is not I.
The shoes of his blessed feet I'm not worthy to untie.

I baptized with water, He with Spirit and fire.
We come from this world. He comes from much higher.

Then came Jesus from Galilee, to be baptized of him.
John said I'm not worthy. You're the one who's without sin.

Jesus said this should happen, now let it be so.
On the banks of the Jordan then, in the water we will go.

And as Jesus rose from the water, to him there came a dove.
It lighted upon Jesus. Sent from heaven above.

Then God made it clear, this is My beloved Son.
If ever you've questioned, now you know, my Jesus, he's the one.
